Musical instruments

The most remarkable of all is the decorated string quartet, also known as the Royal Quartet, made up of two violins, a viola and a cello, and a cello from 1700, all made by Antonio Stradivarius. Alongside these we find other exceptional works: the virginal by Hans Bos or the chamber organ of queen Joanna, both of which are in the Monastery of Tordesillas, from the 16th century. There is a double bass by Nicola Amati from the 17th century, the beautifully decorated table pianos from the 18th century, the harps by Holzman and Erard from the 19th century and we mustn't forget the magnificent organ in the Chapel of the Royal Palace, built by Jorge Bosch in 1778.

The collection is topped off with other instruments, guitars, violas and violins, organs, harmoniums, pianos, trumpets and cornets, player pianos, phonographs and gramophones with their cylinders, rolls and discs, cases and containers, as well as a 19th century device to exercise your fingers for playing the piano.
