The La Herrería Forest is a natural area of great historical and scenic value. It is located within the region of Madrid, very close to the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, to the north west of the capital. It covers a total area of 497 hectares.

The Herrería Forest was declared a Picturesque Landscape in 1961 and belongs to the Natura 2000 Network

Visitors access

The Forest is accessed from the municipalities of San Lorenzo de El Escorial and Villa de El Escorial. Also from the M-505 road that connects Galapagar with Ávila passing the port of Cruz Verde. There are ecological walks and paths equipped with informative and didactic signage, rustic furniture and parking lots. One of the trails has a section adapted for disabled people and along the trails spread across the forest we will find several historical sources.
