The Monastery of La Encarnación in Madrid was founded in 1611 by King Phillip III and Queen Margarita of Austria-Styria, as a result of the personal wish of the Queen who, seeing the work done by Princess Juana of Portugal in the Descalzas Reales, decided to build a convent of similar characteristics in the vicinity of the Alcazar, and connected to it via a passageway.
Su arquitectura es el mejor ejemplo del estilo de los Austrias posterior a la construcción del Real Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial
